Petlibro’s Capsule cat water fountain, which has five stages of filtration, various drinking locations, and a very quiet operation, is a human-friendly and cat-friendly fountain that packs a lot of powerful functions into a modest, streamlined design.

The Petlibro Capsule’s Background

The Petlibro Capsule water fountain is the newest addition to Petlibro’s line of water fountains and fountain accessories.

As the company’s only fountain with a spout attachment, it has a somewhat smaller capacity than the original Petlibro fountain, which was designed in the same year.

Although the Petlibro Capsule has a capacity of 2.1 liters (71 ounces), it is not large enough to accommodate multiple cats or a dog sharing the water fountain for more than a couple of weeks.

What Sets the Petlibro Capsule Apart From Other Water Fountains?

Even while it isn’t a smart fountain with indicator lights or other glitzy features, the Petlibro Capsule does have a few unique characteristics that we haven’t seen in other fountains before.

To begin with, the Capsule has a more sophisticated filtration mechanism than the vast majority of other water fountains on the market. Instead of the two or three stages of filtration found in conventional fountain designs, the Capsule’s 5-level filtration technology promises to collect more detritus, heavy metals, and smells for the highest level of freshness.

And, probably most significantly, the Capsule differs from other fountains available on the market in terms of its noise output. The Capsule is equipped with a patented valve and a silicone water pipe that is noise-insulated, both of which work together to reduce motor noise. Petlibro described it as their most peaceful fountain to date.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • It’s not too loud, but it’s audible enough to alert pets that it might be time for a cool, refreshing beverage.
  • It prevents me from having to change the water numerous times a day and keeps the water sparkling clean. I top off the water when it gets low and cleans out the tank every couple of weeks to keep it running well.
  • Maintenance is simple and quick to complete.
  • Cats like the sound of running water and are particularly taken by the flowing fountain. Their attention span is kept alive for several hours by this game.
  • Our corgi sort of ignored it and wasn’t that interested. Our cats were very engaged by the fountain.

Cons

  • The font size of the accompanying instruction booklet is too small to be readable by anyone who does not have perfect vision. If I had to guess, the font size was around the size of four.
  • Okay, I’ll admit that I’m one of those people that prefers to go right in and set up a new device with little or no guidance. This system does not strike me as particularly user-friendly. It is necessary to read the instructions.
  • It was not particularly easy to set up, and took some work on it.
  • Even though the filters are extremely effective at removing pollutants, the unit only includes one filter. It is highly recommended that you order a package of filters at the same time as your device is being ordered.

Petlibro Capsule Pet Water Fountain Put To the Test

After I’d assembled everything, filled it with water, and connected it to the power source, it was time to sit back and watch this fountain do its thing. The way it operated was as follows.

The Petlibro Capsule is equipped with a five-level filtering system that ensures that the water it produces is cleaner and fresher than that offered by competing fountains on the market.

It is the top tray that serves as the fountain’s initial level of filtering, catching hair and other big particles that fall into the slots surrounding the bowl’s circumference.

Water recirculates through the system and goes through the primary filter, which is located on the bottom tray. To trap large particles, this filter is formed of nonwoven fabric and is loaded with activated carbon, as well as an ion-exchange resin substance, which eliminates heavy metals and other contaminants from the water.

Finally, a foam prefilter integrated inside the pump serves to trap any particles that may enter the pump before they have a chance to swim through it. By reducing the amount of wear on the pump, this filter contributes to the fountain’s increased longevity.

Final Verdict

Although it is compact and has a simple design, the Petlibro Capsule is not to be taken for granted. The Capsule is a promising option if you’re searching for a quiet yet powerful fountain that provides good filtration and is simple to maintain.

However, it is not without flaws. The size, plastic build, and price of the Capsule are the most significant drawbacks.

The fountain’s 71-ounce size meant that I had to replenish it every couple of weeks to accommodate two wet-fed cats. Cats who eat dry diets will most likely require more regular refilling of their food. Although inexpensive and visually appealing, plastic fountains pose a higher risk of bacterial collection and feline acne than other materials used in their construction.

Lastly, with annual filter replacement costs of up to $96 per fountain, this isn’t a cheap fountain and may quickly become a money pit over time. Customers on a tighter budget may wish to try the Zeus H2EAU Drinking Fountain, which is available at a lower price.
