King Kanine’s mission is to promote pet wellness inside and out, and they seem to be doing a good job of it
By Laura Pakis, Certified Dog Trainer and Professional Blogger,
Acme Canine was asked to test and review KING KALM CBD 300mg for large dogs but when the package arrived, included with the CBD oil where pet grooming products such as KLEAN PAWS (pet paw cleaner), KING KLEAN Pet Bed Spray and KING KLEAN In Between Bath (pet odor eliminator) Spray. So we tested all of them on our dogs and some of our clients’ dogs to see if what King Kanine describes was truly what the product is capable of. Here’s what we found out:
Klean Paws is described as a non-toxic, foaming paw cleaner that can kill 99.99% of all bacteria and germs that are usually on dogs. It is also stated that this cleaner, “kills ringworm & roundworm (post-larval state) and can prevent the passing of these parasites and other toxic bacteria to you, your family and other pets”. Its active ingredient is Benzalkonium Chloride (BAC) and Triethylene Glycol.
Acme Canine found the cleaner to smooth the pads while softening them. And the dogs enjoyed us rubbing on their feet. We had no way of testing to see if the cleaner truly killed parasites, but did learn that Benzalkonium Chloride works as an antiseptic and is one of the safest synthetic biocides. As far as the Triethylene Glycol we really couldn’t see its application as a paw cleaner.
There wasn’t much of a fragrance in the cleaner. Acme Canine sees this as a plus since dogs have such sensitive smell receptors, the less fragrance the better.
The cost of this product is about $10.00 for 1.75 oz. Musher’s Secret costs around $12.00 so price is comparable to similar products.
KING KLEAN Pet Bed Spray
The King Klean Pet Bedding Spray is defined as a pet bed deodorizer formulated to kill 99% of the bacteria that causes unwanted doggie smells in fabric fibers. Its main ingredients include Benzyldimethyl ammonium chloride, T-maz 20, Vitamin E, and Natural Lemongrass Fragrance.
The lemongrass fragrance is pleasant and not at all overpowering. We were fortunate to try the spray on a chair that contained a fresh anal gland expression (probably one of the worst smells you can get from a dog). After two applications the smell had almost disappeared. This says a lot about the product.
The active ingredients in this product have properties of disrupting micro-organisms’ cell processes and surfactants to help break up the components of the odor. Lemongrass, on the other hand, has antibacterial and antifungal properties in addition to a pleasant odor.
King Klean Pet Bed Spray costs about $15.00 for 12 oz. compared to a range of $8.00 for 8 oz to $28.00 for 32 oz. of odor spray which may or may not be as effective.
KING KLEAN In Between Bath Spray
King Klean in between bath spray has similar ingredients to both the Klean Paws and Pet Bed Spray and is also formulated to kill bacteria and germs which cause malodors in the pet’s fur. In addition, the spray contains aloe vera to “leave your pet’s coat smelling great and feeling silky smooth.” The product is safe if ingested so it can be used on cats as well as dogs.
We found ourselves spraying quite a bit on our dogs before we noticed the funk leaving their coats. Then a faint odor of lemongrass and a definite ‘freshness’ was noticed. The dogs didn’t mind the spray since it was a pump rather than an aerosol.
The in-between bath spray sells for about $14.00 for 8 oz. The cost is more than most in-between bath sprays. Acme Canine feels this product isn’t much different than other in-between bath sprays so unless you like the eco-friendly formula and that King Kanine is an FDA approved facility, you may want to find a product you like that is cheaper.
KING KALM CBD 300mg – Large Size Pet & Dog formula
CBD products for dogs seem to be everywhere which makes it difficult to find something that isn’t too expensive yet works great. This is where King Kanine’s King Kalm CBD oil for dogs shines. It is professionally formulated with Broad Spectrum CBD oil combined with Krill Oil and Hemp Oil and third-party tested.
Our dog, Autumn, who suffers from arthritis and anxiety issues, showed marked improvement after a few days of taking King Kalm. The easy to read dosing chart which comes with the product helps you determine the appropriate dose so you’re using only what you need. The Krill oil contains omega-3-fats which fight inflammation and the antioxidant astaxanthin.
The cost is $75.00 per 30 ml which is average for a quality CBD oil. Acme Canine feels this product is worth the money.
King Kanine was established in 2015 and has done a nice job of creating innovative products aimed at providing pet owners with all-natural alternatives that promote the health and well-being of pets.
They have sales going on during most holidays and at other times so you can always save a few bucks.
We found their products to be as described and of good standards.
