It is time to take action, not just for your own health, but for your best friend, too

Do you lack the motivation to get up in the morning and go for a run? But look at your dog, the perfect example of undying energy. That little fur-ball can run all day and never get tired. But it is a busy and fast life in today’s society, with no time exercise and junk food on every corner. But it is not just the human population that is dealing with obesity, in 2018, it has been estimated that around 60% of cats and 56% of dogs in the United States were overweight or obese. It is time to take action, not just for your own health, but for your best friend, too.

Perfect running companion

Do you ever get a feeling that your dog can run all day without getting tired? The quality run may be just enough exercise for you, and dogs especially, are great runners. But just like humans, dogs are also creatures of habit; they quickly get into the routine of running every morning. After a while of running in the morning, it will become your time to bond and get tired together. But when the winter comes, do not give up on your workout, consider buying your dog a vest to keep him warm, and get some quality gear for yourself, you can find more info on this website.

Did you know that dogs and humans have similar energy burn while running? They consume about 0.8 calories per pound per mile while walking, and humans burn 0.73. Keep in mind that in order to lose a pound, you and your canine friend will need to use 3500 calories. That is why changing your diet is a crucial step to weight loss.

Motivation

It is always better to have a workout buddy to motivate you to go for a run, and no better than your pets to take that role. They will practically force you to get out of your bed. After a few morning runs, they will have their inner clock set to expect this, and it can be tough to resist their puppy eyes. Apart from getting you out of bed, your dog can motivate you to run faster and longer than you would by yourself. Having somebody to focus on can make your exercise easier, and the time will pass without you noticing.

Health

Running is a wonderful exercise, and not just for weight loss. It has many benefits for your health, like reducing the risk of heart disease, kidney disease, and even some cancers. But it has the same benefits for your dog’s health, too. At least 30 minutes daily of exercise can significantly improve your health, but it can improve your mood and your sleep, also. After a good workout, you and your dog will sleep like babies.

Get Social

With so much time spent outdoors with your dog, you will notice almost the same people walking their dogs or running in the park. There is a wonderful opportunity to meet someone new. We all probably know someone who met their significant other while walking their dogs. A weekly hike, a daily walk, and run will not only give you plenty of exercise and provide you with health benefits, but it will allow you to meet new people (and dogs). You may even find new workout buddies that way.

Who knows, maybe you will really start to love running. But if you are already a runner, especially a long-distance runner, you will benefit from your dog companion the most. Your little canine friend is always there to run with you and will keep you motivated throughout your run.

But running is not the only sport for you and your dog. They love swimming, and if you are a swimmer, your local river or a lake may be the best spot for you to spend your time together. No matter what kind of exercise it is, you will both find that your life has become much healthier and happier.
